Welcome to the Annual Nutsville Art Show!
Our next exhibit is titled Keyed-in by Eccentric Anon.
This is an incredibly powerful living sculpture, albeit a possible one-day wonder. As you might observe, the artist has rushed headlong into his creation and met with a dreadful accident. Whether this was intentional or not, we may never find out. It’s not every day that an upright piano consumes a downright idiot.
The instrument’s tuner has just confirmed that the only Chopin to be performed on this particular piano will involve the surgical extraction of said artist from the keyboard.
No photos, please.

Nicely done!! A cautionary tale for those of us who are easily consumed by our art! 🙂

Quite right. I have two dangerously consuming things in my tiny creative work space at home — a PC and a piano. You should have seen me dashing between the two when writing a musical several years back. Lucky I survived the experience!

Is this an artistic installation or a murder scene… I guess it’s too late to know, but I bet the video will be a collector’s item

Ah, that would be telling. Let’s hope his nearest and dearest (if he has any) or some artists’ charities benefit from sales of the videos, although that is a motive for murder in itself.

Really cleverly composed, and a totally different take on the strange photo!

Thank you, Keith. One look at that strange photo was enough for the surreal & darkly comic to kick in!

I love the notion of an ‘art attack’. It’s not unknown. Great story.

Thanks, Margaret 🙂 I live in a seaside town populated by a large number of artists, some of whom enjoy being experimental. Need I say more?

Dear Sarah,
Great title. So this would be an idiotectomy to Nocturne in C-Sharp Minor? Works for me. Cute story.

Oh Sarah, this is so funny, I am actually laughing out loud and glad I don’t have a cup of tea in hand otherwise I would have splurted it all over the place! I adore your sense of humour, I can hear you telling this story! From the title to the ‘no photos please’ is brilliant. Best piece of flash fiction I’ve read in a long time, seriously!! 😀 xxxx

I’ve seen some concert pianists almost becoming one with their instruments, such is their passion for the music they’re performing.
