A big thank you to Dave Farmer for hosting the first stop on my Blog Book Tour and for asking me some most interesting questions 🙂
This is a first for me – an interview with an actual real life author, Sarah Potter, the creator of Desiccation. The cover is wonderful, harking back to the good old days of sci-fi when people knew where they stood with bugs from another dimension.
Not like these days where villains and heroes are interchangeable and plots rip off other plots to the point where you spend too much time trying to remember which other book the current book you’re reading reminds you of.
We’ll get to the cover artwork in the intermission.
I wanted to share the rear cover because it looks nicely creepy on its own. Here’s the blurb from Amazon:

Thanks, Kim. How frustrating, breaking your kindle screen. Hope the device is under guarantee and the repairs haven’t cost you any money.

Cheaper to get new one. Just waiting now. Sigh. It was old.

Hope it hasn’t left you out of pocket, if that isn’t too British an expression. Not sure if you use it in the US!

No it’s not an expression we use but one I understand well. 🙂 It’s usually singular words I have problems with. I can figure out phrases. 🙂

Am not sure that some of the words I’ve used in my book are in the regular dictionary, but they would be in a dictionary of British slang. Sometimes in my writing, my fictional characters make up words, just to confuse things further. I think I’ve italicised these in Desiccation.

I set my kindle dictionary to UK dictionary and it picks up the words. It even goes as far to inform that it’s slang. I did run into a word or two that wasn’t in the dictionary but you explained. Now that I am 25% into the book I’m breezing through. I am enjoying and you have me hooked I want to hurry up and find out what’s going on.

I haven’t used the kindle dictionary yet, but it’s good to know it works well. I’m thrilled that you’re enjoying the book and it has you hooked. Excellent news!
