I think whoever put Poseidon there, has a great sense of humour. The ducks are always quacking with laughter at the sea king!

So that’s where deposed Greek gods go! Funny; the gull looks right at home on his crown.

I swear that gull is having a laugh at Poseidon’s expense. Have you noticed how the statue is listing over to one side. What a humiliating end it would be for a deposed Greek god (especially a sea king) to capsize and drown in a freshwater pond!

I did indeed. I thought he was at a jaunty tilt, but I guess in some ways it might be apt to have the waters reclaim him, even if they are fresh waters. Some of the water/sea/river nymphs so abused by his brother Zeus can claim a mini-revenge I guess.

He probably is as gulls can be rather too assertive, as evidenced in the breeding season, when it’s possibly advisable to wear a tin helmet when walking down a street where they’re nesting on the chimneys!

I must find out who put him there. Some joker, I guess — unless the person didn’t know the identity of the statue and just thought it would look good on the pond.

A lovely resting place, Sarah. I see he has a few feathered friends to keep him company. 🙂

His feathered friends have bread fed to them on a daily basis, so they are very plump and happy. Perhaps if people had thought to feed Poseidon some fish, he wouldn’t have turned to stone!
