Ah, that I should be so lucky, having birds pose for me! I had to tiptoe as close as possible very quietly (which isn’t easy on a pebble beach) and then use my camera’s zoom lens.

I did attempt to capture them in flight, but my camera isn’t up to that, so all I got was a picture of the patch sky where the cormorants had been a second earlier!

I find these birds so funny when they prepare for take off. Ours do it straight out of the water, and it often doesn’t look like they’re going to make it. 🙂

Love that first photo, it looks like they’re applauding something just out of shot!

They probably were applauding the unusual appearance of that yellow blob in the sky casting its sheen over the sea!
