No, She Hasn’t Been On A World Cruise!

Four months on, she reappears and is most touched to find her blog has the same number of followers as when she last visited her site! Thanks all, for your loyalty and patience.

Despite the post’s title, this particular lady wouldn’t fancy a world cruise even if she could afford one, but a trip to the Norwegian Fjords to watch the Northern Lights is definitely on her bucket list.

Rather than list the negatives that have stood in the way of regular blogging throughout 2019, she will share with you some good things.

  • She has bestowed much tender loving care on her garden.
  • She has finished the 2nd draft of her 6th novel Twicers, a satire set in the near future, which she began in 2017 during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), and has entered its opening chapters to a competition. Its rules didn’t insist on the entrants polishing their work to a gleam, let alone completing the first draft. The 2nd draft is now with beta readers, to whom she extends her heartfelt appreciation and thanks. She awaits their feedback/constructive criticism with bated breath.
  • She has discovered the wonderful calming effects of CBD oil, which has stopped her heart palpitations and lifted her mood, and for the first time in 20 years her thyroid levels are normal due to the endocrine boosting effects of the oil, plus a 3-month course of homeopathic Thyroidinum.
  • She has new, super lightweight and comfy eco-glasses and can now see properly, as well as doing her bit for the planet. For those who haven’t come across these specs, the frames consist of 63% plant-based materials and 95% recycled materials, plus every time someone purchases frames, ECO plants a tree — over 1.5 million trees so far.
  • She has joined an all-female small choir and mastered the art of singing alto, having previously always sung soprano. With three concerts under her belt and two more scheduled for this year, she’s feeling on a high. They’re a fab group of girls and the choice of music most eclectic.
  • She has two wonderfully practical men in her household who’ve recently drilled a hole in the wall of her home office upstairs and hardwired her PC to the modem downstairs, which means she can be more efficient with her work and still have quality time with the family, dig the garden, do singing practice, and re-engage with the blogging community.

For those of you who sent such kindly getwells to a certain sweet old chocolate Labrador at the time of her op and convalescence, she has just had her 6-monthly health check at the vets and passed it with flying colours, despite still hosting the mast cell tumour that was meant to have been removed! Thanks to love, prayers, and alternative remedies, she’s in fine fettle: eating and sleeping well, enjoying her walks, playing/winning tug of war, and fully engaging in her role as chief supervisor.

    1. Lol 😀 There are many plants both edible and inedible, but none related to hemp! The CBD oil in question is non-psychoactive & legal, imported from the EU and sold by a reputable UK-based company, so “she” has a clear conscience 🙂

    It’s with great joy I opened my email to find your name. I’m so glad she’s doing well. 😀 Lovely to read her voice once more. Over on this side of the pond, my herbs are doing well. I’ve basil, oregano and rosemary that I’ll probably bring inside for the winter. My tomatoes, not so much. It seems the deer enjoy them as much as we do.
    Still sitting on my latest MS, not sure where to go with it. Same old story, different days. SOSDD 😉
    I’m pleased her health issues are straightening out.

      Yes, finally a post! It’s great to be back. No deer eating our greenhouse-grown tomatoes, so we’re enjoying tucking into them ALL 🙂 They taste so much better than the shop-bought ones. This is probably due to them coming to us not from middlemen/women but straight from the vine. And because they’ve never been stored in a refrigerator, we can keep them in a cupboard, where they stay fresh and flavoursome for a whole week or two (if we don’t eat them first).

      I’m brilliant at sitting on my manuscripts, so certainly aren’t going to judge you for that. I’m still sitting on Counting Magpies, undecided what to do about it, and it wouldn’t be right to give you it to beta read as part of a package for you to do the cover design, for me then to change my mind about self-publishing it. Of course you are welcome to beta read it anyway, or Twicers, which Dale has at the moment — then you can discuss it behind my back on Skype 😉

      Hope to speak to you early September, after my annual family visit has happened. I hope to participate in Friday Fictioneers on and off (maybe once a month) after that.

      Hope you decide what to do with your MS soon.

    And what wonderful things are going on in your life… So happy for you.

    Yes, I have finally begun Twicers and am enjoying it so far (which means I will all the way through). I had a crazy busy period where I could not get into reading of any kind and had to restart it, thinking I would be confused, only to have been totally at ease with it. So that’s a good sign, no?

    Looking forward to reading more of you on the blog while I read more of you on the “page” so to speak.

    1. Thank you, dearest Sherri. I will have a lovely weekend, now my toothache has gone! This isn’t my year, but every day I live in hope that the gremlins will get bored with bothering me.     1. I’m guessing the cannabis is only legal on island if bought from approved quarters, while the homegrown variety is still illegal! It’s still illegal in the UK, whatever and wherever. Only CBD oil with a THC below 0.3% is legal here. The CBD oil I buy on Amazon for my dog is listed as hemp oil. I’m pleased you class my corner of the garden as sublime. I just love it. Am looking for a folding wooden table to match the bench, for when I want to work out of doors or eat a meal in the shade. My patio at the other end of the garden gets too hot in the middle of the day, since my poor apple tree perished and needed cutting down.
