Don’t worry, it’s snow from a fortnight ago and my dear, sweet dog is quite th opposite of evil. Impish, yes. Puppy-like at the grand age of 10, yes!
In fact, my monday is good. The weather is so warm and sunny that I sat outside to have my lunch today. If only that background chill would disappear from the shadows, it would be perfect. Unfortunately, rain is forecast for the rest of the week, but I’m determined to enjoy the sun while it lasts. Our clocks moved forward an hour yesterday, so we’re now on British Summer Tme, which means an hour more light at the end of the day. Lovely 🙂
Once plenty of sunshine has done its work on me, I hope to feel well. At the moment I’m feeling a bit jaded and old D:

How lovely that François should have a picture of your dog on his phone. It sounds as if your big romance is still going good and strong 🙂 Happy week to you, too, Dale, and my huge apologies for being so neglectful of you. We will have girls’ facetime when I’ve finished my darned book. I’ve been really tired, with my brain only functioning on half-power. Have decided the culprit is the iodine in my multivitamins (will explain more when we talk). Since stopping taking the things, the fog has started to lift from my brain!
Well…. it’s on a “let’s see where we stand” thing, actually – my having not totally digested his two-weeks in the sun and sand sans me.
You are not neglecting me – because I know I will be rewarded when the time comes…

I’m sort of well, but would feel better if the rain would ease of and let in Spring. My novel is also exhausting me, but I always get like that towards the end of a first draft, thinking I’l never type THE END before my energy completely runs out.

I actually got out in the garden yesterday and did some planting, the first time since long before we moved and the first time, I do believe, since we moved that it hasn’t rained or snowed or been bitterly cold! Dearest Sherri, I’ve only just found your comment as have been in hiding. Please forgive me. Was feeling a bit overwhelmed, so had to retreat and refresh! Easter seems so long ago, but it was a good one. Much prefer it to Christmas, as it’s not so commercial. I managed to send off my submission to that novel competition one hour before the deadline. Have nearly finished the book — only a few pages to go, but ended up having to write a synopsis before those last words were on the page. I’m glad to hear that you’re pressing on with your rewrites. I know how horrible it feels and sometimes retreating is the only way to get through it. Yes, I agree about Easter, a much calmer and more meaningful holiday. Oh that is fantastic news about your submission, phew, talk about last minute! But I'm a fine one to talk, ha! That must have been such a challenge with the synopsis before finishing, no wonder you felt overwhelmed. I hope you can relax and unwind now and catch your breath now that you've worked so very hard and achieved your goal with submission. I wish you every success my dear friend, you deserve it so much. Yes, I love gardening. I have some foxgloves. Planted them last year and they’re coming up good and strong this year. I’m afraid that hollyhocks don’t work in our garden due to snails and a labrador lumbering around, too! I’ve some wonderful pots. Am especially in love with some very fancy tulips by my front door. I might pen something about them for a Monday Morning Haiku, if I can find the words. At the moment, my word inspiration is a little sporadic. I can’t catch my breath yet with the novel, as it still needs finishing and having had its first read-through, preferably in less than a month, just in case I’ve got somewhere in the competition — not that the rules say you have to have even finished the first draft, but I like to be ahead, if at all possible. We do share our love of gardening, which is lovely. I am trying my best to keep the slugs and snails at bay (oh if only for my dear Mrs Tiggywinkle back at my ‘old’ summerhouse…) and have tried, unsuccessfully, to grow healthy and happy hollyhocks, so let’s see what happens. I don’t have the lumbering labrador, but I do remember what it was like when we did, bless! I will catch up with you very shortly dearest Sarah, like you, I am up to my eyes with writing submissions and of course, it is taking me longer than I wanted it to. But it has to be right, right? Then…hoping next week will be back to the memoir in full force. I have struggled a lot lately, trying to get any time online blogwise. I’ve been struggling with my writing and with blogging, as my stamina is way down. Am exhausted and finding it hard to focus. I literally have about one page to go before finishing my first draft, but reaching the end seems like climbing a mountain. I swear the writing of a novel’s closing page is as brainachingly hard as the writing of the first page, if not more so. You do sound exhausted, and what a massive mountain you’ve climbed my dear friend. I am sure by now you have made it to the top with the closing page of your novel…I only know how brainachingly I find each part of my memoir and the need to take breaks, it is utterly exhausting and draining. I hope you are soon recovered and able to take some time away and recoup. We are in for some good weather this weekend by all accounts, yay! Dearest Sherri, yes, I made it to the end of the first draft. Am still exhausted and have truly run out of steam. Haven’t blogged at all this month so far. Complete writer’s block, even for haiku. Must kickstart myself soon. Even went to see the Dr. which is unusual for me. Hopefully, one day I’ll wake up with energy and focus. Meanwhile, I’m enjoying the birds and the flowers, so might at least post some of my beautiful woodland pictures I took the other day, so people know I’m still alive! I am so glad you are enjoying our glorious spring days dearest Sarah and hope you are feeling better as each day goes by. I have barely managed to get on WP since my last post in March, this is another very quick check in, and I won’t be back to visit blogs until next week. It’s getting ridiculous. These past couple of months have been over the top busy with so much to do at the house and getting V moved back home, which is now complete and now the aftermath of all of that (and so glad it’s all done and what a huge relief). I will be so very glad not to lay eyes on another single packing box for a very long time. I have managed to get out in the garden and at last discovering some lovely treasures lain buried beneath winter’s earth and like you, hope to put up some photos soon. Although, by the time I get to it, they will already be out of date I suspect! So glad you finished your first draft. I am frozen with writer’s block too, because of yet another enforced gap, which gets harder and harder to return from. I feel your pain my dear friend, but in your case, how wonderful that you have accomplished your goal and when you have recovered (not surprising you have felt so run down and exahusted and hope the doctor’s visit was fruitful…), hopefully you are able to return to your edits etc with a renewed vigour. It’s hard to be indoors and write though isn’t it, when the weather is so nice? The dust is beginning to settle here, and as soon as I can stop my head from spinning, I will email you re meeting up. It will be so lovely to see you again. Meanwhile, have a lovely weekend and enjoy your gorgeous gardena and some good R&R. Dearest Sarah, hasn’t the weather been glorious? So lovely going to garden centres and planting out all our gorgeous new plants. So theraputic! I have not managed to get a post out (2 months now but who’s counting lol?!) but hope to post some garden pics when I do, next week maybe? And I will catch up with you back at your pad then too. Yes, the wedding was absolutely beautiful, we watched it in snippets at the pub where the BB was held and then the highlights back home. I’ve been going through a lengthy spell of getting lots of fresh air, catching up with jobs, and sorting out my head about whether I want to continue with my writing. So glad you’re okay dearest Sarah, sounds like you’ve been going through an extremely unnerving and unsettling time. What a relief knowing all is fine, phew. I too have been enjoying the fresh air and at last discovering the joys of our new garden, what grows where, where to put the many plants in pots my mother brought with her and creating new places. It is so hard to stay inside and type on such glorious days as we’ve had lately isn’t it? Especially when we need to sort out our heads, as I can so well relate ❤ My post only went up last week, the first for over 2 months. Dearest Sherri, it’s about three weeks since I posted anything. I’ve been going through a lengthy spell of getting lots of fresh air, catching up with jobs, and sorting out my head about whether I want to continue with my writing. Had some medical tests to get through, too, just to check out about my weight loss. All okay, thank goodness, but unnerving, to say the least. Hope to see you very soon. So glad you’re okay dearest Sarah, sounds like you’ve been going through an extremely unnerving and unsettling time. What a relief knowing all is fine, phew. I too have been enjoying the fresh air and at last discovering the joys of our new garden, what grows where, where to put the many plants in pots my mother brought with her and creating new places. It is so hard to stay inside and type on such glorious days as we’ve had lately isn’t it? Especially when we need to sort out our heads, as I can so well relate ❤ My post only went up last week, the first for over 2 months. If you get a chance to visit, you'll see some garden shots – and the Princess Diana dresses from Kensington Palace taken during mine and hubby's visit to London in early April.
