Monday Morning #Haiku 170 & 171 — Squirrel

Ahead of herself,
grey squirrel in white apron
gathers winter food.

Scatterbrain squirrel
abandons cooked chicken egg
next to her dugout.

    1. I tried to capture a shot of Mrs Squirrel sitting up on her haunches and displaying her apron in all its splendour, but she was far too busy scurrying about this morning on the flat roof outside my bedroom window to stay put in that pose whilst, blurry-eyed, I rummaged for my camera.
Happy Monday to you, too, Bill, my friend.

    1. Dear Rochelle,

Thank you. Yes, it is very hard catching a shot of such an active animal, when I don’t have any fancy speed shutters on my camera.

By the way, I’ve got a picture that I’ll send you with my promised email. It’s quite unique, slightly gross, and just the ticket for an interesting FF prompt! You’ll see what I mean, I’m sure…

      Best wishes,
      Sarah

    1. I’ve no idea where it came from, but as there was a squirrel-sized bit of digging in that flowerpot and the squirrel was generally in evidence that morning, my conclusion was that somehow it had transported the egg there. I’m guessing it stole it from someone’s picnic. It’s amazing how much a squirrel can carry in its mouth. I’ve seen them with their cheeks positively bulging out on both sides!

    1. Thank you, Sylvia 🙂 Squirrels are very funny, although my dog isn’t that amused by them in her garden. However, if they’re in the woods or someone else’s garden, she ignores them. I guess that makes her a NIMBY!

    1. I won’t write such lovely words if any squirrels set up home in my attic D: My favourite squirrel ever, was an albino one with ruby eyes. It visited my garden over the course of a year. It was so, so very pretty xxxx
