I’m so excited and a little bit nervous. The big day has arrived. It’s adventure time for twelve-year-old Noah Padgett and his chocolate Labrador puppy, Bluebell. With one click of a link they’ve landed themselves in the Zyx-dimension, where the predominate species is Canis sapiens. These intelligent dog-people view the boy and his puppy as mutants and alien collectibles, forcibly separating them and putting both their lives in peril. Will they survive, or won’t they?

    1. Thank you:-) Bluebell was one of two names I had lined up for my chocolate Labrador when she came to me as a puppy. I chose the other of the two names for my puppy and used Bluebell for the fictional character she inspired!

      I remember that, as well as encouraging my son to read books aimed at his own age-group, I used to read books that were too hard for him to read himself. I remember reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to him when he was 5 or 6, then Jurassic Park and Lost World to him when he was 8. I think that children love listening to the sound of words and the flow of text, even if they don’t understand everything they’re hearing. I guess that on a subconscious level, the language sinks in, for retrieval later.

Everything is taking me ages at the moment (a combination of there being a heatwave where I live, plus I’m still drained of energy from the flu). Am getting there.
