Monday Morning #Haiku 119 — Mushrooms

Giant Mushrooms

Nature bends her boundaries,
when old hippies dream.

  1. Love it, Sarah! But no hookah-smoking catepillar? 🙂 I take it these mushrooms are a sculpture? I find mushrooms fascinating and uncanny/mildly disconcerting. I call myself a (modern, I guess) hippie, but I’m not sure if I truly qualify, now having read Desiccation more than once! Though I reject the term hipster; I was never hip, and I’m okay with that (now).

      1. I’m often making typos in comments, then having to send a second comment pointing out my mistake. We who are natural editors and perfectionists might kick ourselves about our mistakes, although I’m not sure that the average person notices our errors until we point them out!

    1. I was a fringe hippie, who embraced the fashion (apart from the nudity!) and the music, but not the whole drug culture that went with it, as I was too much of a self-preservationist and probably a bit of a coward, plus I was also a bit too young to get fully involved.

      1. Sounds like me (but slightly later, like in the ‘hair metal’ and grunge eras). I was never interested in drugs, tobacco, or alcohol. Lucky for me, as I have probably got a temperament and predisposition to get hooked easier on such things (nature and nurture-wise).

      2. Then you should be applauded for your extra strong willpower, if the temperament and predisposition are there for getting hooked on things. I’ve had various cravings for things in my past, such as Lucozade energy drink, Merrydown cider, and chocolate cake with ice cream, but I was never addicted to them as, on each occasion, I decided they were bad for me and gave them up overnight!

  2. My first thought was ‘magic mushrooms’… I have never had any interest in doing drugs, but loved wearing colorful dresses and bunches of flowers stuck in the holes on the knees of my jeans 🙂

    1. I likewise, although I never had bunches of flowers stuck in the holes on the knees of my jeans. I used to paint flowers on my face, as well as wear lovebeads and a cowbell around my neck. I tried walking about in bare feet, but it wasn’t very comfortable. Just loved my cheesecloth floaty skirts and dresses.

    1. Dearest Sherri, I think you might keel over if you tried to smoke those mushrooms! They’re probably poisonous, but I’m not sure and am certainly not going to test them out. I know they’re still there — albeit in a rather darkened and shrivelled form — which means that even the animals don’t want to touch them 😉 Lots of love, hugs and kisses xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
