3 Days 3 quotes challenge rolled into a single day

My dear blogging friend, Kimberly at silentlyheardonce, has very kindly nominated me for the 3 Days 3 Quotes challenge.

Kimberly dreams of a world full of compassion and tolerance, leading to ultimate peace between all nations. Her feelings run deep, as evidenced by her poems and reflections. Last year she published Whispers I Silently Heard: A Lifetime of Poetry, which I’ve bought and am very much looking forward to reading soon.

I’m going to break the rules of this challenge by posting all three quotes in one day, as I’m mindful of the fact that three consecutive days of posting might not happen in my present state of busy-ness.

The rules (for those more organised than me)

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Post one fresh quotation on three consecutive days.
  3. On each of the three days, nominate three folk who have not yet taken part to continue the challenge.

My nominees (3 x 3 = 9, and without obligation)

The quotes (a writerly sandwich, indeed!)

“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”
Neil Gaiman

“Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind. ”
George Orwell

“I had the epiphany that laughter was light, and light was laughter, and that this was the secret of the universe.”
― The Goldfinch, Donna Tartt

  1. Thanks for participating Sarah. I think it was a wonderful idea to do all three on one day. It makes life much easier and that is the best thing we can do for peace of mind. All three quotes are inspiring and worthy to be saved and re-read .

  2. Thank you so much for the nomination, Sarah! The George Orwell’s quote caught my attention because ‘political language’ is something I am going to write about in my next blog post this Saturday. Well, not really write, but slightly touch the subject:) Thank you again! 🙂

    1. What a coincidence, Inese. Much check out that post. It sounds interesting. I have much to say about all the spin, rhetoric, and broken promises that are related to political language, but am not sure how to blog about it politely!

    1. I love him 🙂 I’m always so impatient for him to bring out his next novel and his next. The last one I read “The Ocean at the End of the Lane” was spellbinding, although my all time favourite is “Anansi the Spider”.

  3. Thank you for nominating me, Sarah. I’ve already completed this challenge twice so I hope you don’t mind in me bowing out this time? However, I’d love to leave a link to a quote that has had the biggest effect on me and one which I remember on a daily basis. I hope it works.

    1. That’s fine, Hugh. I think maybe you did those challenges before we found each other in Blogland.
PS What link? I’m afraid it’s invisible. Now I’m curious to know that that quote of yours is!

      1. Apologies, Sarah. I didn’t think of that. I tend not to use the notifications centre because I’ve found not all comments show up in there. However, recently I have used it to ‘like’ comments because of changes WordPress have made which I know quite a few have not been happy with. That’s, maybe, a post for another day 🙂
