Sarah is a British eccentric who writes offbeat fiction, haiku and tanka poetry. When stuck for words, she sketches or paints instead. She's into nature conservation, sustainability, gardening, dogs, natural health, and reading. Her sociability is something that happens in short bursts with long breathing spaces in between.

So pretty and delicate! (Not just the image, by the way!)
Gorgeous this Sarah…Cindy’s exquisite photograph and your beautifully delicate Haiku which captures the essence of the California desert flowers so perfectly 🙂 xxx
Yes I did Sarah, but the time I remember the most was crossing the Mojave Desert sitting in the back of a Plymouth Dodge muscle car with friends, driving from LA to Las Vegas with Aerosmith riffing through the 8 track. A long time ago… 1979 😉
Ah, memories. I was living in leafy Surrey in 1979 and had just started my first nurse training. Not nearly such an adventure as you were having then 🙂
“Pink gymslips” is a beautiful coinage, Sarah, not to mention the gorgeous alliteration (assonance; and how it buttresses the overall personification of the flowers) of it driving the haiku. Cindy’s photo is lovely as well.
Thank you, Leigh. I always love your in-depth analysis of my work. If somebody asked me to describe why I’ve written something a certain way, I’d be hard-pushed to answer them, but you do just brilliantly on my behalf. And, yes, Cindy’s photo is lovely, as are all of her other ones of flowers, birds, and nature in general.

Did you ever visit the Californian desert when you were in living in the States?

You’ve really captured the delicacy and transience of the flowers in your images Sarah, lovely.

Thank you, Andrea, although the image with this haiku, for once, is not one of mine but belongs to Cindy Knoke, who takes the most delightful nature pictures.
