Begonias thrive
amidst decimated plants
devoured by snails.

Fabulous – sometimes I root for the snails! Mind I have never been a big fan of gardening.

I admit to collecting snail ornaments as I like the shape of their shells but, of course, they have the advantage of beauty without the appetite for plants that goes with their live versions!

Nice begonias! My parents have deer eating some of their plants.

Oh, Christy, I know how to fix that! Have them mix up a raw egg and a bit of water in a spray bottle and mist the plants with this – deer, and other critters like rabbits, etc, don’t eat rotten things, so when they smell the stinky egg mist they won’t eat the plants! And if they are using this on garden veggies, dont worry its not toxic! ♥♥♥ ;^)

That’s a great tip, Aisha, and one that I’ll pass on to my mother, too. Thanks 🙂

My mother has deer eating some of her plants, too!. She has to choose very carefully what she has in her garden and tends towards shrubs rather than anything more delicate. Her only flowers, such as tulips and the like, are in pots outside her conservatory where she can keep a close watch on them.

Do you have snail and slug problems in Egypt? I can’t imagine them surviving in such a hot, dry climate. More a case of snails cooking in their shells I would have thought!

No, believe it or not, we do have snails here! Some mornings I see their crazy trails if the sun is just right. I think they do burn up tho, lol, I see their empty shells in my planters more than I see the live ones! If I do get lucky to find a live one I love to throw it to the ducks and watch them scramble for it – better than TV! ♥♥♥ ;^)

I never thought about feeding snails to ducks. Must bag up some of the blighters and treat the ducks to something other than bread for once.

Oh, they will love you forever after that! ♥♥♥ ;^)

They are indeed. Their taste must be as bad to snails as black pudding is to me D: Yuck.
