Music Passion

My music passion for January is “1920s electro swing vintage fashion music” – produced by Alan Grubby. The style of music is flapper funk and prohibition beats.

Yes, I know that adollyciousirony called for vintage songs this month over at allaboutlemon, but I really couldn’t resist this quirky instrumental piece as my contribution. To me, it’s really cool, but then I do have quite eccentric tastes!

  4. Very interesting fusion here. Cool.

    • Yes, it’s really clever — energising in a cool way. The video put me in mind of the ones they use to have on “The Old Grey Whistle Test” on tellie. The first one I ever saw was with some girls from an old Hollywood movie, dancing in formation to a track from a Genesis album.

      • Which Genesis album was that? Love those guys!

      • I think it was from the album “We Can’t Dance” and the track is “I can’t dance” (I think), but I’m not sure, as I’m sure it was from an album released earlier than 1991. Perhaps “Dancing with the Moonlit Knight” in their classic era in the 70s.
I did see them live at the Dome in Brighton in 1970.That makes me sound really ancient. I was a teenager then and went to the gig with my mother. I also saw Jimmy Hendrix live, during his final tour of the UK before he died. What a loss.

      • Sounds like you’ve got a pretty rich rock and roll history. Saw Genesis on the We Can’t Dance Tour – can’t even remember what year it was, but remember falling in love with the live experience way back then. Thanks for sharing!
