Sarah Potter Writes

Pursued by the Muses of prose and poetry

Music Passion

My music passion for September is Dans la forêt de Septembre (In the forest of September), sung here by Mario Hacquard (Baritone), accompanied by Célimène Daudet on the piano. The music is by Gabriel Fauré (1845 – 1924) and  the lyrics from a poem by Catulle Mendès.

You can read the poem’s translation from French to English at This translation is under strict copyright, so I can’t copy it into this blog post. The words are melancholy, beautiful, and well worth a read to set off the mood of the music.

  1. I’ve been listening to a lot of Delibes lately — I need some cheering up rather than existential melancholy. Happy Autumn, Sarah
